Caring For Your Pearls
Pearls are created in a very special way, and so they need very special care. It is almost impossible to damage a diamond, one of the hardest substances known to man, and pearls may seem to be similarly hard and robust, but this is far from the case.
Pearls are natural, organic gems, and as such they are vulnerable to damage from a range of physical and environmental factors, including heat, moisture, chemicals and even your own perspiration. They are also susceptible to physical damage, and can chip, crack and even disintegrate completely if mistreated.
Over the next few pages, we’ll explain how to look after your pearls during wear, during storage and when you travel.
Even with the most vigilant protection, all pearls will eventually age, mellowing in colour over time. However, with just a little care and attention, you can make sure you maintain their unique lustre and classic beauty for many years to come.
